Rustem and I boarded the
plain for another trip to Turkey. Our third year. It's amazing how
times flies. It feels as if we have just returned.
The plan was to land in Antalya
and meet up with Erkut. The three of us would stay in Antalya for
4 days ending with a race. We would then travel to Kemer, Kumluca,
Finike, Demre (where the "original" Santa Claus church
is located) and finally Kos.
We landed in rainy weather which
evolved into a full-blown hurricane.
Wednesday was nothing but rain.
Rustem went to visit some friends while Erkut and I drove to Kemer
for a late lunch. After returning and a quick shower, we had a few
drinks at a local beach club. It was a very relaxing day.
As the hurricane continued into
Thursday (with no end in sight) , Erkut decided to return to Istanbul
to visit his parents. Rustem and I decided to search for better
weather in Kos. We loaded up a rental car and drove through the
evening. The adventure would not have been complete without a flat
tire (nasty pothole).
Once in Kos we visited Rustem's
good friend Ali who put us up in his new hotel. Rustem did some
shopping which allowed us to have a midnight snack. We went to bed
with dreams and prayers of sunny weather.

Late Lunch / Breakfast. Keep eating, we will ride eventually.

We arrive at Ali's hotel in Kos. Rustem finds some glasses for our
Efes (beer).

Rustem prepared our midnight snack - mmmm Olives and red pepper

Erkut, Tom and Rustem enjoying our first meal while it was only
drizzling.
